'Caroline of Brunswick Square' is the new single from English favorites The Perfect English Weather featuring husband and wife duo Simon and Wendy Pickles from The Popguns. The song is a swinging sixties-influenced gem with absolutely stunning crystalline vocals and prime guitar work that will have you reaching for the repeat button straightaway. It is the first song released by the band since 2019 and the initial preview of a forthcoming 10-track album 'Just Beyond The Lights' scheduled for release this spring.

reviews
Well, If there’s a more beautiful slice of indie pop released this year, we’ll eat our ill-fitting cardigans. With Caroline of Brunswick Square, The Perfect English Weather return after a five-year absence with a single so effortlessly elegant, it feels like they were never away. There’s a warmth to the track, an ease in its gently jangling guitars, and a chorus so sublime it could make lesser bands weep with envy. Yet, beneath its swinging sixties charm, there’s an undercurrent of wistful melancholy—perhaps nostalgia, but not quite. Simon and Wendy Pickles (of The Popguns) craft something that feels both timeless and immediate, with crystalline vocals that glide over pristine instrumentation. It’s a song that demands repeat listens, not just for its melody but for the emotion it so effortlessly carries. And with Just Beyond The Lights arriving this spring, it’s a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come. —Backseat Mafia
The Perfect English Weather are a husband and wife duo from Brighton, England, whose musical journey began in the late 1980s as part of the indie-chart irregulars The Popguns. Perched on a melodic precipice at the lovelorn edges of indie-dom, their “beautiful, slightly melancholic pop” has drawn comparisons to Everything But The Girl, The Sundays and more recently St Etienne, and this ‘Caroline From Brunswick Square’ from their forthcoming ‘Just Beyond The Lights’ album (out later in the year on Matinée Recordings) continues their legacy of brilliantly smooth and considered jangly indie-pop. —Janglepophub
Again and again I discover great current music through the friendly, taste-proof people in the Facebook group Zeiglers wunderbare Welt des Pop. Again this morning: a married couple band completely unknown to me called The Perfect English Weather, with their new song "Caroline Of Brunswick Square." I love everything about this song: the sixties retro sound with Simon Pickles' gorgeous jangle guitars, Wendy Pickles' (The Popguns' breathable vocals), the springtime cover artwork, the band name. Perfect pop for not so perfect times. The label Matinée Recordings has announced a new TPEW album "Just Beyond The Lights" but in the meantime, I'll get to know this demanding good-mood music.
—Sound and Vision
L’album “Just Beyond The Lights” è atteso più avanti nel corso dell’anno. —Indie for Bunnies
